a5c7b9f00b A mysterious creature, known as Ink, steals a child's soul in hopes of using it as a bargaining chip to join the Incubi - the group of supernatural beings responsible for creating nightmares. When we go to sleep, two forces battle for our dreams: the Storytellers, who give us good dreams; and the Incubi, who give us nightmares. Widower John Sullivan is estranged from his young daughter Emma, having been deemed unable to care for her. Now on the edge of a huge investment deal with a major corporation, he is unaware that he is being stalked by an Incubus. And on the city outskirts, a mysterious stranger named Ink snatches little Emma from her bed and escapes into the dream world, intent on selling her soul to the Assembly of the Incubi so that he may be allowed entry into their ranks. A small band of Storytellers realizes that the only way to save Emma is to reunite her with her father in the physical world, and they will do anything to make sure that this comes to pass. This is a strange, but wonderfully unique film. I took a shot on downloading this and was pleasantly surprised. I found myself being reminded of films like Dark City (1998), Being John Malkovich (1999) and They Live (1988). Although it was slightly predictable towards the end, I think the overall presentation makes up for it. <br/><br/>I could have done without the blur/whitening effect, but it does sort of add a dreamy feel to the movie. This film does have a few great special effects such as the Incubi and the portal in the street. But it's tastefully done; never overbearing with flashy/unnecessary filler. Bottom line: If you dig obscure indie flicks with some plot then give this one a go! Before I had seen the movie I had never even heard of it. I had no idea about all the hype. When I went into the theater it was packed and me and my friend had to ask around for a place to sit. All I have to say is that I understand why. I thought the movie was great. It was done in Colorado which was a nice little kudos to us, and the acting was well done. It was different, and I think that's what I liked about it. The plot had a dark mood even though it was a happy ending. But most importantly it was the FIGHT scenes that sealed the deal for me. The action was priceless at times, (see first bedroom scene). Altogether I think the movie deserves a 8 rating out of 10 due to the good acting, interesting plot and top action. The only reason it falls below a 10 is the special effects get a little corny at times, but thankfully it works with the dreamy, sci-fi feeling of the film. *GO C IT*
